Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

In order to provide our matchmaking services explicitly tailored to your preferences, BeiMei Date collects personal information including but not limited to:
- Registration Data (Email for account security; some earlier accounts also have a phone number on file).
- Profile Setup Data (Photos, Birthdate, Gender, Dating Preferences).
- Usage and Device Information (IP Address, Hardware type, Interaction metrics).

2. Data Usage and Security

Your data is heavily encrypted. We utilize industry-standard cryptographic techniques to secure your personally identifiable information. We expressly DO NOT sell your personal profile data to third-party data brokers. Profile parameters are entirely utilized to operate the internal match-recommendation algorithm.

3. Account Verification

BeiMei Date verifies accounts by email. When you sign up or sign in we may send a confirmation link, or use your email and password, and you can also continue with Google. We do not currently send SMS text messages for sign-up or login.

Optional profile verification. If you choose to verify, you upload a selfie showing a code we give you and a photo of a government ID (identity), or a document such as a diploma, student card, work badge or offer letter (education or career). We ask you to cover ID numbers, addresses and salary details. A member of our team reviews the upload to decide whether to approve it; we use it for nothing else. The photos and documents are deleted once that decision is made. We keep only the outcome — the badge, the degree level or job title you entered, when it was reviewed, and the reason if it was not approved. Other members only ever see the badge. If an ID shows that an account holder is under 18, the account is removed.

Friends' words (亲友推荐). A member can share a link that lets a friend or relative write a few words about them; the writer does not need an account. We keep what the writer enters — their name, how they know the member and their words — and when it was sent. To limit abuse we may also keep a one-way hash of the writer's IP address, never the address itself, and the form may use the CAPTCHA check described below. What they write is checked against our Community Guidelines and refused if it breaks them or includes contact details. Nothing is shown until the member approves it; it then appears on their profile to other members, and the member can hide or delete it at any time. It is deleted when the member deletes their account. If you wrote one and want it removed, email contact@beimeidate.com.

To protect against automated abuse, sign-in may include a privacy-friendly CAPTCHA challenge (Cloudflare Turnstile). We share limited information with service providers such as Supabase (authentication) and, where enabled, our CAPTCHA provider, only as needed to secure accounts, operate the service, comply with law, or prevent fraud and abuse.

Some accounts created earlier may still have a phone number on file; we do not use phone numbers for marketing and do not sell or share them for third-party marketing. For help, contact contact@beimeidate.com.

4. Advertising, Cookies, and Third-Party Technology

BeiMei Date may use Google AdSense or similar advertising services on selected public-facing pages of the website. These advertising services may use cookies, IP addresses, web beacons, or similar technologies to measure ad performance and deliver relevant advertising. We do not sell your private chat content or private profile data to advertisers. Where required by law, we may display cookie or consent notices before showing advertising.

Optional rewarded videos (Android app). When you have used your free likes for the day, the Android app can offer a short video ad from Google AdMob in exchange for a few more likes. Watching is always your choice. Google serves and measures the ad and may use your device's advertising ID, which you can reset or delete in your device settings; where the law requires it, Google asks for your consent first. To confirm you finished a video, the app gives Google your BeiMei Date account ID, a random identifier that is not your name or email, and Google returns it to our server in a signed notice. We keep a record of each reward to prevent duplicates, and it is deleted with your account. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.

Optional session recordings on our public pages. If you choose “Allow” in the banner, Microsoft Clarity records how you use our public pages and sign-up screens in your browser — clicks, scrolling and mouse movement — so we can see where the site is confusing. Anything you type is hidden before it leaves your browser, everything you enter while setting up your profile is masked, and signed-in pages such as Discover, matches, messages, profiles and verification are never recorded. Clarity doesn't run in the Android app. Microsoft keeps recordings for 30 days and heatmaps for up to 13 months, and processes them under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of our pages.

5. Location Tracking

By opting into location services, you permit BeiMei Date to calculate relative distances between users to optimize matches. You may disable location tracking at any time via your device settings, but doing so will prohibit access to our Distance Filtering tools.

6. Safety, Moderation and Enforcement Data

Keeping members safe requires us to process some information specifically for that purpose, and you should know what it is.

Content scanning. Text you write — messages, like comments, your bio and your prompt answers — is scanned automatically against our Community Guidelines before it is saved. The scan runs on our servers at the moment you send or save. When content is refused, we record that it was refused, which rule matched, the length of the text and the time — not the text itself. A refused message is never delivered and is not stored as a message.

Warnings on delivered messages. Some content is allowed through but marked — a mention of crypto or payments, for example. Where that happens we store the category alongside the message and show it to the person receiving it, so a warning can appear under it. The sender is not told which rule marked their message. We do not store the category for content our systems merely recognised without flagging.

Reports and blocks. When you report someone we store who reported whom, the category you chose, anything you wrote in the details box, and the time. We never tell the reported member who reported them. Blocks are stored so they can be enforced, and a blocked member is never told they were blocked.

Moderation records. Review items, enforcement decisions and an audit log of safety actions are kept so that decisions can be reviewed, appealed and explained. These records are visible only to our team; they are deliberately not readable by the member they concern, because a member who can read the signals against them can work around them and can retaliate against reporters.

How you found us, and where your account was created. When you finish setting up your profile, we record how your first visit reached us — the kind of source (search, social media, a link, or direct), the referring site or campaign tag, the BeiMei Date page you first landed on, and, if you arrived through one of our community pages, which one — together with the country your internet connection was in when the account was created. We derive that country from your IP address; the address itself is not stored with this record. We use it to understand which pages help people find us and, for safety, to send accounts created from outside the United States and Canada to our team for a human review. That review never restricts an account by itself. The record is deleted when you delete your account.

What we deliberately do not infer. Our systems recognise when someone appears to be describing thoughts of suicide or self-harm, for one reason only: so that the message is not mistaken for a threat and refused. We do not flag it, score it, store a health inference about you, or use it for any other purpose. See our Consumer Health Data Policy.

7. Account Deletion and Data Retention

You have the right to delete your data, including under the California Consumer Privacy Act and comparable state laws. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. Deleting removes your profile, photos, prompts, likes and conversations, and deletes the sign-in account itself — your email address no longer exists on the service and cannot be signed in to. Your conversations disappear for the people you were talking to as well.

To be accurate rather than reassuring: deletion is not total. We retain a limited set of records after an account is deleted, and only these:

  • Safety and moderation records — reports, blocks, enforcement decisions and the related audit log — because a member removed for harming someone must not be able to erase the record by deleting their own account, and because a report you filed is also part of someone else's case;
  • If an account was removed for a violation, a one-way hash of its email address — never the address — so the removal cannot be undone by deleting the account and signing up again. It is deleted if the removal is lifted on appeal;
  • Transaction and billing records we are required to keep for tax and accounting purposes;
  • Content preserved in connection with a legal request or an ongoing investigation, for as long as we are required to hold it;
  • Backups, which are overwritten on their normal cycle.

8. Law Enforcement and Legal Requests

We disclose information when we are required to by valid legal process, and when we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to prevent imminent harm or to investigate violations of our Terms of Service. Apparent child sexual exploitation is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), as US federal law requires, whether or not anyone asks us to.
